Biography
Annemarie Bastrup-Birk has 20+ years of professional experience on forests and forestry issues. She has been strongly involved in the assessments of forest resources as the co-coordinator of the Danish Forest Inventory and as vice-chair of the ENFIN (European National Forest Inventory Network), coordinating the monitoring of forest habitats, and the monitoring of forest ecosystems (ICP-Forests). She contributed to production of Danish land cover and land use maps from satellite imagery for reporting to the Kyoto Protocol and UNFCC. She chaired the COST Action FP1001 USEWOOD on ‘Improving Data and Information on the Potential Supply of Wood Resources: A European Approach from Multisource National Forest Inventories‘ which aims to improve and harmonise data and information on the potential supply of wood resources at European level. She is currently responsible for Forests and Environment at the European Environmental Agency (EEA).
